Since the Association's inception back in December of 1999 we have come quite a long way. We are finally a registered body with an organised and diverse committee. At the beginning of this month we have only nine registered members, but there are many more who have been supporting and assisting us who simply do not wish to take that 'official' step of filling out membership forms. The first organised and official meeting for the current group took place on the 12th of October, 2000, and since that time there have been a few changes of committee and office bearers, but in the end we found a mix of people who while not always in agreement, had enthusiasm and got the job done. Until this point the group has not been widely advertised or promoted, so that we may be able to first get all the messy groundwork out of the way, and be fully organised for new members. We now have a good working committee, plenty of resources, and even a small library that people may now borrow from. The Association is currently in negotiations with Feast (the Adelaide Gay and Lesbian Feastival) to run some workshops for them this year, and it is planned to get much more happening here in our local state for the future. It is hoped with further donations and purchases we can expand our small library, and we are still looking for suitable locations where we can hold workshops at a minimal cost. With the beginning of this new financial year the Association is looking very good and now simply needs good promotion to encourage new memberships.
